Economic & Community Development

Economic & Community Development Overview

The Centralia Coal Transition Board is entering its final six months of active grantmaking, and the Economic and Community Development funding (“ECD”) resources will be allocated to grant requests up to $20,000. The available ECD funding is limited, and the Board will focus on investing the remaining funds to support youth related services, education, and equipment projects or programs.  If you would like to confirm that your grant request fits the focus of the board, please email coaltransitionboards@transalta.com

The Economic and Community Development Fund supports projects to educate and retrain workers in Lewis and South Thurston counties, with a special emphasis on the needs of community members affected by the eventual closure of the coal-fired electric generating facility in Centralia, Washington. It also provides grants for projects that enhance economic opportunities and community partnerships that benefit and strengthen the region.
